Whatcha all been playing! I got the itch for outer wilds again, which I can’t really play anymore (😭)

So I decided to start a game I’ve wanted to play for a while that I thought could scratch a similar itch: ghost trick phantom detective. It’s really good!

Out of nowhere, I had the sudden urge to play New Vegas again, so that’s been taking up my time. Been enjoying a more Vanilla+ playthrough, just the patches to help it run better. And Someguys quest mods, but they fit right in to me. Still haven’t made my way onto The Strip, though I’ve cleared Boone’s quest and I’m working on Veronica’s(with E-DE in tow, of course).

It’s been awhile for me, been a nice revisit. Just taking my time, and really enjoying all the little rediscoveries I’ve been making.

Funny you mention Outer Wilds. I just recently finished Outer Wilds (first time), and so this week(end), I’ve been playing through the Echoes of the Eye portion. Really enjoying it. 😄

Huh, I was staring at outerwilds today thinking I should play again, but then immediately thought I’ll have to go here there here and realised it’s forever ruined for me.

So instead I’ve been playing stellaris.

I’m getting super close to finishing cyberpunk 2077. I said that last week when I was at like 80 or so hours. But uhh 100 hours in now and I swear I’m really close this time lol.

I really wish they hadn’t released the game so early and hadn’t released so much advertising hype about the game. If the game released in a functional state I think it would have had the complete opposite reception.

If they were to have released the game this January or something and only advertised what is actually in the game, people would likely be praising it left and right. I thought the writing and quest design was a breath of fresh air. I loved how the game gave you agency to make your own decisions and made you think about the implications of all of your actions. Even if many of the decisions didn’t directly matter in the grand scheme of things, it allowed you to roleplay and at least feel like you were staying true to how your character would react in different situations.

I liked how there were so many twists and turns during the quests. Overall it felt like I was playing a completely different game compared to the couple hours I had tried at launch.

Edit: side note, Outer wilds is so good. Give it 5 years and maybe you’ll forget some of it lol!

My first playthrough clocked in around 200 hours. Now, I still do almost everything but it’s faster. Only 150 hours now… About to wrap up playthrough number 5. And I’ll probably be coming back in a year for 6.

Can’t get into outer wilds though. Feel like I’m 50-60% through the game and I have no idea when or how to go where I think I need to. Took a break to play CP2077 run #4 and look where that got me

      Cyberpunk 2077 (Pyramid Song mission)

Exactly my thoughts after my actions left Judy leave Night city. Should not have killed Maiko. Made me wonder whether could I have saved Takamura too.

Still on Dragon’s Dogma 2. (at 94 hours of playtime)

I’m still finding new places around every corner. It’s got a ton of fun stuff to discover if you like open-world games.

It’s clunky, but not in an indearing eurojank way. Absolutely repulsive writing doesn’t help. I wouldn’t recommend it.

new rimworld DLC came out and that has taken up all my time. I’ve got to admit I had a few doubts about this one compared to the others, but sure enough they did it again and made an absolute banger of an expansion and now I have to sink another couple hundred hours…

I just got a PS5 a couple weeks ago, after almost a decade of not having a console since my PS3 died. Playing GT7 as my one and only; I grew up on Gran Turismo since GT3. Actually just got all gold on the licenses last night, so feeling pretty accomplished haha. Pretty hard to find time with a newborn and a toddler!

More Horizon Forbidden West, just exploring, killing, looting. While I think it’s the best looking game I’ve played (on a technical level), it does have some super ugly effects, mainly the water reflections and the steam that comes out of the big doors, when you open them for the first time. Those look like ass. Also, climbing is pretty much brainless like the latest Assassin’s Creed games, but has a few too many bugs to match it. Regularly you’ll get “stuck” on a cliff, because Aloy doesn’t want to get to one of the dozens of handholds in arm’s reach. Same with climbing up on top of a rock or cliff, sometimes Aloy just refuses to do so, unless you move slightly to the side. Those are pretty minor issues, but are still annoying.

Then, some Dave the Diver, although that’s been on the back burner this week, since I got really into Horizon.

Managed to get all the campaign achievements for Ghostwire: Tokyo, including a really, really stupid RNG one. There’s an extra mode called The Spider’s Thread, but I don’t think I’m going to focus on that anytime soon. I need a break from Tokyo lol.

I wanted something that wasn’t very combat heavy next and picked Kona. For the most part it felt like Kholat meets The Painscreek Killings - a fun little detective walking sim that just lets you loose without really telling you where to go or what to do, all while taking place during a blizzard. I liked wandering around and trying to figure things out myself, and the narrator didn’t seem too overbearing. I had a good time, up until the ending. It felt rushed and just kind of… happened. Like one moment you’re going along in the forest looking for stuff, and then all of the sudden, here’s an explaination for everything in a short scene! Now literally run to the end! Bye! I was hoping for something a little more drawn out.

I’m not really into soulslike games, but since Lies of P was on GamePass, I thought I might as well try it out. I’m actually having a good time playing it. I’m usually not great at soulslike since they can be frustrating, and I’m not a fan of “die in order to learn”, but I’m making progress and the story is kind of interesting. I really like the atmosphere, very steampunk vibes. Some of the characters could have had a little more effort put into them, but that’s a minor complaint overall.

You’ve just reminded me that I’ve wanted to try both ghostwire and lies of P on gamepass! I’m always so terrible and managing my time lol. I wish there was a calendar so we could see months in advance when a game will leave the service. It’s not so bad with short games. But the longer RPG’s are tough to finish in a month if you discover they’re leaving!

Absolutely, that’s one of the reasons I try to mix up my gaming between longer games that I know will take me a while and short games I get through in a night. I knew Ghostwire would take me longer because it’s open world (the main story itself is kind of short, but I’m a completionist who has to get everything collectible), and I figure Lies of P will take me a while just from dying and restarting a bunch.
