Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Tuesday that his office will oppose President-elect Donald Trump’s motion to dismiss his felony conviction in New York.
Bragg said that despite plans to oppose Trump’s motion, his office would agree to hit pause on the proceedings pending the judge’s decision on Trump’s motion to dismiss. Bragg also suggested the case could wait until Trump’s finishes his term in the White House.
An excellent idea.
It’ll avoid Trump using his office to dodge the actual consequences… it sucks that justice would be delayed but it’s the best option at this point.
Almost ensures that Trump will try to stay more than four years—if he even lives that long. But, yeah, from the White House yo prison would be ok with me.
He’s going to try and be president for life regardless… and if he can’t do it personally then he’ll push in President Baron Trump or Don Jr. Trump or even, hilariously enough, Ivanka Trump.
Delaying the sentencing is the only way to keep the trial alive.
If he tries to become president for life, his life ends after 4 years. There is no way people won’t assasinate him if he goes full dictator. He’s already had two attempt on him for going the legitimate Democratic route.
What upsets me the most, is that the most possible outcome of a New York Class E felony conviction, conditional discharge isn’t being discussed despite it being the only outcome with sense, how is a four year delay even considered an option?
The republicans will just go on a tirade about how past presidents should be immune, no precedent etc etc.
