The US doesn’t fight wars because of rightousness, but simply because which is more beneficial.

I mean in case of Ukraine, the US happened to be on the right side, but its not because the US actually cares about Ukrainians, but its because opposing Russia is beneficial to US allies in Europe.

But unfortunately on the Isreal-Hamas conflict, Israel is more useful to the US than Palestine, so the US got on the wrong side of the conflict. (To clarify, Hamas is not the “right side” either. The right side is siding with civilians of the conflict areas who simply want to live in peace.

Just to be clear, is genocide among the alleged crimes? I thought it was using starvation as a method of war?

I’m not comparing what’s worse just wanna get the facts straight.

That’s not the American flag, but I get what you mean. I believe that’s Liberia’s flag.

I’m going to have to ask you to stop with this “joking”. Lemmy is serious business and people here don’t take kindly to to humour unless it’s clearly marked and explained.

Agreed, I would never make a joke or be anything other than 100% serious. I have absolutely never acted with silliness, tomfoolery, or absolute whimsy while engaging in “:3” and meowing.

Almost pointed it out but i read the other comments first. I think this is a lesson for everyone on lemmy. Read first, dont jump to conclusions instantly.

    • Couple things:

With regard to the crimes, the Chamber found reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Netanyahu, born on 21 October 1949, Prime Minister of Israel at the time of the relevant conduct, and Mr Gallant, born on 8 November 1958, Minister of Defence of Israel at the time of the alleged conduct, each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.

The Chamber also found reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Netanyahu and Mr Gallant each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population.

To me, the clear takeaway is that they’ve walked as close as possible to (correct) genocide charges while pandering to the US.

It exerts more than nominal amounts of diplomatic pressure though. Of course neither war criminal will end up hanging out at the Hague, but it made Putin miss a BRICS conference for example, and this ruling keeps the Gaza genocide a fresh political issue on Europe.
