Give them a nuke back. Them relinquishing theirs assuming good faith by the Russians is half the reason this mess started. If they get one back it makes a push for total control of Ukraine an existential risk for Russia.

Edit: Before someone points it out, yes I’m being wildly naive, let me dream about a good outcome a little.

I was a grunt not a rocket scientist so serious question: do we have missiles they can load in the old Soviet silos or would it have to be a SCUD situation?

Either way, giving Kyiv a giant middle finger to wave at Moscow on the way out would be an epic mic drop moment for Biden.

      Granted.

They don’t have to actually get the nuke back.

Everyone just has to think they did. The idea is just as much a weapon as the bomb itself.

The old squirt-gun pistol routine, lol.

Tbh, from what I’ve read, it sounds a lot like Sullivan is the primary character behind all the hesitancy and pussy-footing and restrictions around the military aid coming from the US. As far as I understand it, Sullivan still seems deathly afraid that Russia is some big military bogeyman, when the outcome of the last two years has revealed them to be anything but, and whose only real “virtue” is a willingness to enthusiastically use meat waves at a strategic level. I’m concerned that Sullivan will continue to slow-walk everything, despite the circumstances.

Trump has expressed skepticism regarding the level of aid sent to Ukraine, which puts him at odds with Biden, who has been a staunch ally of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the country continues its fight against Russia.

Which is why it’s so fucked up Biden’s first priority was Israel.

I’ll give credit to Biden for the arms to Ukraine when Ukraine receives them. I don’t know why people on either side keep giving credit any earlier.

Now ‘ere’s what crazy-ol’ u/peopleproblems would do. Crazy ol’ u/peopleroblems would come to the sum of bitches we have in Acquisitions, and say 'how many weeks could a force of exactly Ukraine’s force hold a position with everything we have currently sitting in storage deployment ready, but not otherwise deployed? Ok, and how about all the equipment we have being delivered under contract for that many weeks? Ok, now, get me a number to replace all that equipment with the newest contracts set to immediately fill everything we send for that first chunk. Ok, now double it, and phone the pencil pushers to get procurement offers for this shit from the defense manufacturers. Yes, definitely let their boards know too. Oh, don’t mention where the already purchased equipment is going, that’s national security interest. Just mention the US is interested in making them rich in turn for securing our country for a long time."

“And give that number to Congress?”

“Once the various board members hear first. We gotta feed the handlers before we treat the pawns in Congress.”

    “Sir is that, legal?”

“It’s an official act. I just made it legal.”

      I get the sentiment.

But i just want to make sure that everyone here knows that biden doesnt have carte blanche to do what he wants because hes not exactly aligned with the conservative supreme court that decides if its an official act or not.

I see this shit all the time and with the way the election went, im pretty convinced that the american electorate is dumb enough to think biden is actually immune.

In this case, I don’t think SCOTUS would be able to do much. They tied their own hands on the “official presidential act” thing. It would have to be up to congress.

What‘s the thinking behind this? Because it very much sounds like: We got to advance at least a couple of meters before Trump starts negotiations. If that is the case, then I think that’s completely fucked up. How about initiating negotiations now instead of having one final slaughter. Man, the Biden administration’s last acts truly show how little respect they have for human suffering.

Because there isn’t going to BE a settlement. Not a while longer anyway.

Trump is going to say “Ukraine, let Russia have whatever it has taken”. Ukraine is (rightfully) going to say “fuck that…they’re not getting an inch”. Trump responds by stopping all aid.

This is a buildup to help them while they transition on only being able to rely on the EU for support because Trump is all up in papa-putin’s-panties and Biden knows it.

It’s true, a lot depends on what Europe will be doing. Without American leadership it’s going to be difficult, though. Germany and France don’t have functioning governments right now and there’s ever more war weary European nations. So Europe’s split.

Zelensky knows that and he’s been talking about ceding occupied territory for the first time. Everybody seems to be scrambling for a final result is my interpretation of what’s happening right now. I personally hope that the war will be at least halted and Europe won’t try it on its own.

It’s crazy how liberals hate democracy immediately when their 10 dimensional multi-spreadsheet chess doesn’t work out in their favor because the father of the family of 4 down the street is too stupid to realize that over a 10 year horizon earned income tax credits will have netted him $70k as long as his and his wife’s combined maximum AGI doesn’t go over $64k, and he only has to pays an average rent of $210,000 for that same period as long as his kids are doubled up in the other bedroom of a two bedroom 950sqft apartment. Is it too much for these morons to say you’re welcome. It’s like you still have the rest of your money to feed and take care of your family, kids are cheap right? If not you can just put them to work but make sure that your AGI doesn’t go above $64k otherwise you can kiss that lucrative $7k a year net goodbye. I mean honestly a little thanks should be expected if you can just wait out 12 years and save that $7k you’ll save up 20% of an average home price using today’s prices (don’t ask how much you’ll need for a down payment in 12 years please).

        Are voters stupid?

Yeah it’s really funny because this stream of bullshit is exactly what Democrats offer and what they talk about when they talk about how they affect normal people. By the way this is all literally just tax code mixed with cost of housing averages over 10 years. It quite literally would make sense to anyone who’s ever been a big boy and model citizen by standards that liberal Democrats love to tout, like being smart, doing your own home work, and loving the optimization of spreadsheets about various cost/risk balances in your life.

The fact that you cannot understand it and blame voters for being stupid entirely shows you cannot live up to that standard. So beyond just a reflexive hatred of democracy, you’re not even a good lib. And maybe, if you cannot even understand the practical application of one of the shining policies that the Democratic party loves to throw in the face of people as an example of how they made their lives better and how they will continue to do so, just maybe you’re also no better than the “voters” who you consider stupid.

They’re not uneducated. They’re desperate, and they spent the last 8 years watching both parties ignore how much they’re struggling. Why miss a day of work when you know your vote doesn’t matter?

          They’re not uneducated.

They clearly are since they acted against their best interests and only the uneducated and insufferably weak willed work against themselves.

Also, you need to ditch this smugness if you want to win people to your side.

you seem to be under the misconception that I’m trying to win people to my cause. I refuse to pander to their absurd ideals and will not coddle them like children.

point blank, I don’t give a damn about their fragile sensibilities about whatever political wedge they want to believe in on a whim.

the people who refused to vote, that allowed this to happen, could rot in the streets as far as I care. They are simply a distraction from the true enemy, Russia and China.

I will do everything within my power to resist Russian and Chinese aggressions. I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know I’m going to do everything I can to be a huge pain in the ass for them.

this includes but is not limited to the netizens who have and are spreading their propaganda.

Yup, and the sad part is, I called it before the election. The only reason voter participation was up in 2020 was because Covid restrictions encouraged vote by mail.

Without the vote by mail push, participation was going to drop, and because the Democrats benefited more from vote by mail, it was going to hurt them.

Surprise, surprise, that’s exactly what happened.

So official comes out and says, we are going to deploy as much military equipment possible using the money that Congress had appropriated for it. (Note Congress was held by a Republican majority). And people think Bidens administration is somehow spending money that could have been used for the American people… Where the Republican majority congress DID NOT appropriate it.

I’m pretty sure Ukraine not defending itself would escalate the war, what with it resulting in Russia taking over the rest of the country.
