Battlebit is great for a couple of rounds of brainless fun every other night. I’m not yet on linux myself, but it seems to work well via proton according to google, and it doesn’t use an external launcher.

I don’t understand the downvotes. The tech may be less revolutionairy from the perspective of a user, but we absolutely made a lot of progress.

It always amazes me how much professional uses VR/AR has, and what kind of stuff has been created for it by all sorts of industries. Some see it as a failure because the consumer variants have not seen revolutionairy improvements over the past years, but the industry around it is quickly growing. So many companies use it, that the technology doesn’t need games to survive.

In a single day, I can’t worry at the same time about LGTBQ rights, palestinians, Ukranians, animal abuse, 100000 diseases that need research, racism, facism, basic needs for the third world, police brutality, the state of democracy, a migration crisis, climate change, polution, and many many many more things.

It is just too much to handle. So when faced with the horrors of the world for the bazzilionth time a day, I just can’t bring myself to care anymore. If I did, I would be in constant stress about everything that is going wrong with the world. Instead, I throw away the booklets I get from the charities I donate monthly to, I tell the collector at the door I can’t spare any money for children in Palestine, and I scroll past the post about how many children were raped in Ukraine today. Hence, I will come across as apathatic.

But that apathy is a survival mechanic, since without it, I would go insane.

People are more motivated by feelings than actual logic. The person you are responding to even states that Ubuntu “feels good to use”. That is some car advertisement level of feeling based reasoning.

Another thing is that people really hate it when things change. Especially a UI change. Every change in the Windows UI has been met with disgust. And if there is one thing different between linux distros, it’s where they place all the buttons, menus, etc. So people prefer to stay with the distro they know.

There are a lot of sports that require you to learn how to use your body differently, or to quickly evaluate something. In counterstrike you need to learn spray patterns, in tennis you need to learn ball physics. In LoL you need to learn the timing of your abilities, in dancing you need to learn the timing of your moves.

Or you play a system that has build a world where the age of exploration, king Arthur, the Russian revolution, the hanseatic league, the itialian city states, the spanish inquisition, and much more are all happening at the same time.

7th Sea has some wacky world building, but it stays realistic enough to be quite believable and coherent.

Cats that don’t know any better can live inside just fine. But I adopted a cat from the shelter that was only allowed to go to a place where he can go outside. And he REALLY wanted to go outside. Usually you have to keep them inside for at least 6 weeks to accomodate before you allow them outside. He escaped through a tiny bathroom window after 2 weeks. And he came back the next morning wondering why I was stressed out. Since then I let him outside. Since then, he also became a lot more chill inside. No whirlstorm on my bed at 4 in the morning, no attacking my feet out of boredom, and he generally seems a lot calmer. Keeping him inside would drive both him and me crazy. So do we have to euthanise all cats like him? Cause locking them up inside is just cruel.

For the people unaware why EU4 is hard:

Take risk (the board game)

Now split the provinces till you have more than 3000 provinces. Then add variables to each region for culture, claims, trade good, trade power, buildings, development (in 3 aspects), the region they are part of, the trade node they are part of, religion, autonomy, unrest, devestation, temporary effects, and many many more.

Do the same for armies.

Add complicated politics, with royal marriages that allow countries to inherit other countries, war goals, casus belli requirements, etc.

Add colonization mechanics.

Add government mechanics (with many different variants for different governments ofcourse).

Add a compex Holy Roman Empire system and a complex system for the Chinese empire.

Add mechnics for different religions, including a pope and a religous war that can bring all of europe into a giant war.

Add a pool of diplomats, merchants, generals, and missionaries.

Now realise that I haven’t played the game for ages, and this was just mechanics from the top of my head, and without what they added in the last few years.

EU4 is not hard due to required reflexes, muscle memory learning, or rythm feeling. It is just a lot of things to learn and to keep track of, woven into a super complicated simulation.
