I’m not impressed by the subtitles themselves (they’re just ok) but rather by how accessible it is. Like it being an option rather than it being a “tool for creators” or limited to premium or something
Or maybe youtube has added so much dogshit features recently (like ai overviews, automatically adding info cards for anyone mentioned, and highlighting seemingly random words in comments to search it outside of context) that it makes me appreciate these things more lol
The ‘people also ask’ section on Google is hilarious because it keeps adding results based on the ones you click and it gets stupider the further off-topic you go

I feel this way with subtitles flashing for each word individually - getting triggered before the last word has even stopped animating. Usually not even the full video, just for select sentences. Why even have subtitles at all if you still have to rely on seperate or auto-generated ones? Much like having alternate titles in thumbnails I guess. Maybe that’s just my 3 am brain speaking
