Yeah, I don’t really like sitting behind them either. We just got a new car and while it isn’t that tall, the lights are just so fucking bright it’s unreal. I find it harder to see at night, at least beyond the zone of my headlights, because it’s so bright my eyes don’t adjust as much. It would not surprise me in the least to find out a big heatmonster like those X3D chips will hit throttling temps at idle if the CPU fans stop spinning. Probably within seconds of booting. Can you check the actual clock speeds of the cores at idle/load? See if you’re geting anywhere close to your 5.whatever ghz.

The issue is not that Linux is more or less buggy/difficult than Windows. It’s that you’re conditioned to already understand Windows’ bugginess/difficulty. I dual-booted for some of xp, all of 7 and much of 10. I found once I got comfortable enough with both, there were perhaps slighly fewer deep problems on Windows, but they were always much more difficult to rectify.
But I understand if you don’t want to take the time to get to that point, learning isn’t for everyone.
The only thing Ann Selzer did wrong was trust her methodology. If you take a lot of samples, some of them will be outliers, wecome to statistics. Reminds me of the classic stats homework assignment to toss a coin 100 times. The fakers are easy to find because none of the streaks are long enough, aka, no outliers.

I reckon, given the extent of voluntary submission to constant surveilance from corporations and the continued march deeper into oligarchy, that it’s only a matter of time until platforms that aren’t explicitly anti-privacy are going to be reframed as extremist and dangerous as a part of the global political conversation.
