Yeah I ended up with a lifetime of CPTSD and anxiety after a childhood of severe neglect. I did develop great skills at feeling happy and safe when entirely alone, however, so there’s that.

There was so much change between the generations, that with a 5 year age gap, we sometimes feel the culture change.

Anyways, the younger than millennial generation seems to be deathly afraid of making mistakes. I’ve tried to hire younger people and they are a hindrance because rather than making a mistake and learning how to fix it, they’ll spend hours trying to avoid the mistake in the first place. I can’t even blame them. I didn’t grow up where the majority of my social interactions are permanent. Where a bad take can be used to cancel a person 10+ years later. Where typical edgy teenage jokes aren’t a sign of immaturity, but a reason to fire someone. Where an overprotective parental culture stopped them from experiencing pain or failure. Where to have a hobby, you have to be amazing at it. Rather than just enjoying it.
We were the first generation that experienced advertisement that was omnipresent and almost inescapable. The newer breeds don’t even have an option for escape

I disagree. I feel like we were given free reign, only to grow up with an over-inflated sense of entitlement that we should be able to do and say anything we want.
