Rich white people have a long history of “giving away” their daughters. Let alone the insanity of debutante balls and the like. They view their daughters as property, plain and simple. And many take it even farther and consider them property to be “used”.
I have a buddy that’s about to pop the question to his partner, and the topic of asking the father for permission came up, and it’s just so fucking dumb.
