Re the headline, I like to add color.
I don’t see it as inconsiderate. The guy spent his life dedicated to traveling! It’s part of his identity at this point. But I’m sorry it came across as lacking taste.
Death is not a trip. It’s a destination.
I thought you meant he was literally doing one more trip! So I was just confused. I see where you were going with it now. Not sure outside of confusion I have much else to say.
I get the sense of humor about it, but this was somebody’s grandparent, their parent, their spouse. That’s what I meant by inconsiderate.
And to be frank, I almost did the same thing when I read your headline. I thought he was making a different kind of final trip, and almost made the joke well at least it’s not to the morgue.
But I thought better of it, and then when I actually read your post realized you had went through with it.
Same dark sense of humor. I just paused and considered that it’s not cool to joke about people dying. Especially in public spaces where someone could feel hurt by it.
