They have an expiration date. Not purly for lobg term safety reasons but it also allows for more advanced tactical use cases.
Do they have fixed expiry after which the thing is inert, or just a battery that runs down after which a different energy source (or shock to the battery) is needed to trigger them?
They have en expiry after which they explode i believe.
Once the battery runs out, they won’t detonate.
And a child years after the war ends.
Landmines were internationally banned for a reason.
