It’s been 2 minutes and I have already uninstalled sync. This is a FANTASTIC app. Kudos devs. I will be sending $ shortly.

I did the same thing! Sync is REALLY good and has some different features like the swipe to upvote stuff, etc but I just love the UX on boost. 'specially in compact mode. Reminds me of Old Reddit

    *Dev.

From what I understand, he does it all himself. Which just makes it all the more impressive.

I am a Boost user myself, even for Reddit, but can anyone tell me what makes Boost better than most other apps? I have never tried other third party software.

The UI was immediately intuitive and uncluttered. I knew exactly what I was doing and what i was looking at. The menu diving was logical and well thought out. I opened the app having never used it and immediately felt like it was an app I had used for years.

This is a telltale sign of fantastic design.

To go a little further into this not only is the design intuitive and friendly by default it also has deep customizability - so if there’s something small that bugs you about it there’s a very good chance that you can dive into the settings and change it. And if you can’t then Reuben is receptive to feature requests.

Boost is the best money I’ve spent on Reddit or Lemmy 🚀

Yeah, I was still on Reddit because the other apps for Lemmy didn’t scratch my itch.

I donwload it on release, and so far it’s working great. Man, I missed this beautiful customizable interface.

its a whole cult out there, the sync community. Also sync was released almost 2 months ago charging 2$ per month or 20$ per year with no major feature upgrades in sight. In the third party app realm, the more ,the merrier: I dont find sync intuitive, and Connect dev is on vacay, plus Boost loads way more feed than the latter. The rest of apps aren’t much pleasing for me, and ios apps are just lemmy apps for vegans or something…I dont know if any others 3p devs would join like Bacon reader or relay

Sync is fine. I used it on Reddit, I think sync has its place, and it has good features. I don’t know if I would call a user base a cult, people are allowed their preference for an app - point and case, I used it but switched when I found something I liked better. I think it is okay to get paid for something you spent time developing, but I also support FOSS. I don’t quite know what you mean about vegan apps so I can’t really comment on that.

i think sync as a reddit client used to have more features than it is now but i am still not sure, at least the reddit official app has an extra feature like the mute comment notification feature, etc… also i dont think people are getting their money worth off the app (and the app pricing isn’t supposed to reflect its worth either) : dev living in america where high rent and taxes are rampant: why should that trickle to me as a user, especially when i am not earning an american wage…if 1000 ad views pay for 1$, then paying 10$ as a yearly fee is more of a reasonable way to monetize ur app while sparing ur user the ad abuse. European devs could provide more affordable apps for Lemmy, like the case of Boost. Also i am not aginst proprietary apps at all. In fact, proprietary apps are way better than Lemmy foss apps
