Yep, they pretty clearly stated that humanity had moved beyond religion, money, enslaving animals for meat (Riker’s words), etc.

Ugh, really? What were they thinking?
They weren’t. I have heard the later seasons got better but they fucked up so much. My biggest issue was Picard was like…happy and Jokey.
