  • I only got into it 3ish years ago, originally pirating it cause I was broke at the time, but I bought it as soon as I could with my first paycheque from my current job. Absolute god tier game with god tier devs. I would’ve pre-ordered (heresy, I know) Space Age if they let me, but I bought it day one. I’ve already got 617 hours on the steam version, and I probably put about 5-600 hours into the pirated version before I could afford it.

Love me some Factorio and Wube. 2nd favorite game of all time behind Super Metroid.

  • I personally play it through steam but I’ve had an account there for a decade now so that doesn’t bother me. But Factorio allows you to buy directly from their website if you prefer. This also bypasses steams cut I would assume (correct me if that’s wrong please) and you get a steam key with the purchase in case you do ever make a steam account.

You do need to make an account on their website to do that so apologies if that disqualifies it for you. Wube is a rare shining example of a god tier company though, finding a bug is literally a meme in the Factorio community cause of how thoroughly polished the game is. They even fix bugs that exclusively affect mods and not the base game.

  • The Starcraft cutscenes are awesome, both SC1 and SC2 as well as both games being awesome. Obviously you’re not gonna get movie level graphics in game. RTS games aren’t about graphics but about how the game plays and both Starcraft games are still the best RTS out there.

Fuck modern blizzard but they used to make some awesome games. There’s a reason Starcraft is still the premier RTS to this day despite both games ages. They both play extremely well (SC1 less so but its aged impressively well) and I still play both casually.

  • I haven’t used Ubuntu since around 2014, so I couldn’t give you a proper comparison tbh. Sorry!

What I can say is that my entire Steam library basically just works, and has since the day I installed Bazzite. I have more trouble with non-steam games though, EA app and battle.net games can be finicky at times, you just gotta mess with different proton/wine versions until they work, but they do all eventually work, at least for me. I don’t play much MP games outside of Starcraft 2, Overwatch 2, Helldivers 2, and Space marine 2, so if you play any MP games I don’t play, then your mileage may vary.

I’m extremely happy with Bazzite, it’s made me a true Linux convert, which is why I want to dip my toes into Arch in the form of CachyOS while keeping Bazzite as a backup in case I fuck something up!

  • God damn, you can’t even spell or use grammar properly and you get a vote. I’m not even American, and it still pisses me off that people as dumb as you exist. As much as I hate to admit it, murican elections have far reaching consequences, if trump gets in again, then that’s terrible for the world as a whole.

Harris is by far the lesser evil, and spare me the bullshit about both sides being the same. Both options suck yes, but one is clearly less shitty for not just America, but all of your allies. Even here in Canada where a third party is actually semi-viable, there’s still basically no chance for the NDP to win sadly, let alone some random 3rd party in murica. Vote against trump by voting for Harris or support him by voting for anyone else, like it not, those are your choices.

  • I’ve been running bazzite for about 6 months now, daily driving for about 5 months and its never once broken on me. During boot, you’re presented with 4 snapshots you can choose between so if an update did happen to break something, it’s easy as just choosing an older snapshot after a reboot. No idea why that commenter thinks it’s hard tbh.

I’m running it on a 7600x and a 6700XT GPU. Everything just worked out of the box for me, steam games work perfectly 99% of the time in my experience, and when you run into an issue just go to protondb and you’ll probably find the fix there.

Games run through lutris can be annoying at times, the EA app and battle.net games glitch out on me much more than steam games, but they do work, just gotta tinker with proton and wine versions till it runs.

Highly recommend bazzite, I love it after being a life long Windows user.

  • Eh even with being allowed to do things, it still sucks after a while. My job is seasonal with half the year being insanely busy and other half has practically nothing to do after work dries up. Luckily the bosses are chill about it, just show up and “pretend” to be busy and you can watch TV on your phone while “cleaning” the same tools or trays etc over and over. It’s nice for a few weeks after the demanding busy season ends, but even with being allowed to listen to music or watch stuff on your phone, take extra breaks, chat with people as much as you want, it still gets old having to be at work 40 hours a week with nothing truly productive to do.

That’s with good bosses that want to keep the workers happy, doing tedious mind numbing work for bosses that are trying to get you to quit sounds like hell. No thank you.
