It’s worth watching CGP Grey’s video on The Rules for Rulers. In it he explains why allies of the new rulers are tossed out when the old rulers are deposed. What makes a person good at grabbing power doesn’t necessarily make them good at keeping it.
USB-c cables can vary drastically. Power delivery alone ranges from less than 1 amp at 5 volts to over 5 amps at 20 volts. That’s 5 watts of power on the low end to 100 watts of power on the high end and sometimes more. When a cable meant to run at 5 watts has over 100 watts of power run through, the wires get really hot and could catch fire. The charger typically needs to talk to a very small chip in the high power cables for the cables to say, yes I can handle the power. Really cheap chargers might just push that power out regardless. So while the USB-c form factor is the one plug to rule them all, the actual execution is a fucking mess.

So most governments around the world have banned their people from suing them in most situations. So this really is just non-news cause that’s the way it’s been throughout all human history.

I was looking for this comment and I’m glad someone got this one in promptly.
I have a gut feeling that his talk of tariffs is a bluff. Even if it’s not my gut still tells me there’s going to be exceptions for certain things that are big money makers for Trump and his allies. Trump’s administration is not going to tax themselves unless they can provide a loophole to get themselves out of it. Ultimately it’s the consumer who pays for tariffs, but they’re entire purpose is to slow down trade and if that costs Trump and his allies too much of their wealth it won’t happen.
Trump is as predictable as he is unpredictable because he doesn’t stay consistent. He changes what he says and does to be perceived as best he can in that moment. Which makes understanding his actions a little easier, his past actions are irrelevant to his future decisions, it’s just about what’s in his head in the moment. Which is just a lot of words to say that Trump, his administration, and his allies are just chaos, and you never really know what chaos will bring except a change in the status quo. It’s not looking optimistic though.
Biology isn’t that simple. A person can have one fewer sex chromosome, monosomy, one extra, trisomy, and many extra, polysomy. In fact it’s starting to show that a significant minority of people have trisomy 47 (the name for having one extra sex chromosome) but live perfectly normal lives because those extra genes are suppressed. You could have an extra x chromosome and never know it, does that exclude you from being a man or a woman? Which brings up the topic of gene expression and epigenetics which is even more complicated. If you’re looking at science to give you a certainty about sex and gender you’re in for a long search.
Being real for a moment, the way that the next election cycle begins immediately once the previous one ends is a bit of a burden. I’m already tired of hearing about ‘Decision 2028’.
Maybe try asking them nicely first, or putting up a sign that doesn’t have a threat in it? Like, I get it, someone slighted you so you got to make them think twice before crossing you again, but going straight to building a trap with razor blades is a bit extreme and will probably land you before a judge.
Even dog shit in a trash can is super polarizing. This was the first comment I saw even mentioning asking the person nicely to stop first. Like maybe put up a sign saying ‘No dog poop please’ before making a threat or a thing meant to bother the dog.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think anyone who is trying to discuss the election with you in good faith paints you as just another MAGA American. We know some Americans faught tooth and nail to stop this. Now you could be lying just as easily as you could be telling the truth, although I have no reason to think you are lying. So assuming you’re telling the truth, as crushing as a second Trump presidency is for me, someone who doesn’t live in the US, who literally can’t do anything about him, it must be so much more worse for you.
I know you’re tired but your fight against fascism is just beginning, it’s far from over. I hope you can find the strength to keep going. As an outsider all I can do is tell you that some of us see you and know that you’re not well right now. Gandalf put it best;

The only reason I can actually understand an undecided voter is if it’s actually a strategic decision to entice the parties to give them more. An undecided voter is worth so much that Elon is literally giving away millions of dollars to sway them. Yeah it’s chump change to him but it’s still unprecedented. It would be kind of like a nullifying jurur, in that they’re saying something completely different than what they’re thinking. That totally gives undecided voters way more credit than they’re actually due, because in reality they’re just ignorant of the situation.
Is he though? Isn’t one of the purposes of presidential pardons to protect a person from unjust political persecution. If Republicans weren’t Trump’s party I would agree it’s nepotism, but it is Trump’s party who will be in power. Trump has vowed to seek revenge on his opponents. Joe Biden is too old to really be punished as much as the Republicans want him to be, but Hunter Biden has many years left. MAGA Republicans could punish him for their hate of his father for at least four years, if not the rest of his life. Isn’t that one of the purposes of a presidential pardon?
