I love having all of these because if my wife wants x fast food I get x chicken sandwich all in one stop. Some of them are much much better than others. If you add “spicy” to it then the whole tier arrangement changes as well.

But I really dont see why anyone is complaining that more places have good chicken sandwiches. Seems like an odd things to hate on IMO.

As an introvert I’d rather not use self checkouts. The possibility that something will go wrong and I’ll have to call someone over and explain it and have them fix it is much higher than letting someone qualified scan and bag my shit while I stand there silently waiting to pay as both the cashier and myself refuse to talk or make eye contact.

Plus I worked at a walmart for a year as right as they rolled out their mostly self checkout system. So many people lost jobs and the store lost so much money to shrinkage (theft). It’s the dumbest fucking thing. Makes perfect sense to have a few for people with only a handful of items but the vast majority should be cashiers.

They said the same thong about ssds for mass storage. Granted this tech is dramatically different. But we went from coffee table sized laser disks in the 90s to psp disc’s in the 2000s. That’s like a 1:100 size reduction and at a 1000 x data storage rate. Who knows what the future stores.

I check out reddit every few days and tbh lemmy has the same amount of mainstream content. The only difference is that reddit niche subs are more active.

I think the fact that anyone can make the same community on a new instance diminishes niche communities more. If I pick a game on reddit ill find 2 or so instances with lots of use. On lemmy there will be 10 communities all mostly abandoned.

You can feel a difference on reddit though. Quality content and content numbers are greatly reduced from even a month ago.
