I think most of us know it’s not a genuine threat, but we don’t care. I hope the MAGA mob eggs her on until she doubles down, and I hope in the process of eating itself alive the entire GOP fails to pass any of their regressive legislation.

Dear God, they used a punch card like it was just another day on the job? I hope they didn’t make the “prisoners” do it. I don’t know why this is so chilling but something about having to count yourself like an object makes me feel sick.

I know I’m way over simplifying but starvation was one of many cruelties inflicted on victims during the holocaust. I don’t understand why Nazis would want to count people they intended to murder, but I think it’s important to try to understand as much as we can so we don’t let it happen again. Which is why I asked.

I’m honestly not sure I want the majority of reddit users coming to lemmy. Especially as a woman. There’s just so much more nastiness on reddit. I get that sometimes the content on Lemmy slows down or gets stale, but that seems like a reasonable price to pay to avoid people with chronic interpersonal problems and no healthy emotional outlet. I think every exchange I’ve had on Lemmy has at least been respectful and I can’t recall ever feeling that way on reddit.

It reflects his miserable persona.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why would they even need a machine to count the prisoners? If they didn’t feed their victims and were planning to murder them anyways I’m having trouble understanding why they wouldn’t be okay with just a loose head count. Was it really just for counting?

I hope I’m not coming across as insensitive, I’ve just never heard about this and it sounds so ominous.

Hm, interesting, thanks for sharing. Libertarians and fundamentalist influencers have quite a bit of overlap in the ideologies, funny enough. I don’t know how to feel about the Bill Maher tidbit though… I’m not his biggest fan, lol.

Thank you for sharing, but now I’m even more suspicious. Libertarians aren’t exactly known for their fact checking abilities, and I can’t find this news story on websites that seem any more reputable.

There’s another fundamentalist influencer family, a conservative wannabe Eminem and his disturbingly meek wife. They also have a gaggle of children and have been investigated by DCFS. Oh and then there’s the family that Shaq buys stuff for all the time, and the one whose oldest son is in prison for possession of CSAM, and the family whose grandparents were literal Nazis.

These people all know each other, have all kinds of cronies, and spread all kinds of misinformation. I wouldn’t put it past any of them to make a fake “news” website to back up their own claims, and name it something dumb like reason.com 😂

I’m not saying this didn’t happen, but I’m skeptical that it happened how it’s being reported. It seems the only details are coming from the mother and her attorney, which is a red flag to me. It also sounds a lot like the self reported “discrimination” that some fundamentalist Christian influencer families have claimed, when they were indeed neglecting/abusing their children. In particular the Lott family (AmericanFamilyRoadTrip on socials) who live in a bus with their 8 children, don’t get them medical attention unless forced, and recently got a “parents rights” attorney who sounded a lot like the attorney in this article.

I also find it odd that the sheriff of a town of less than 400 people would cause waves like this over an unfounded claim from a stranger. I’m curious to know what all this safety plan entails, because it could be a very reasonable plan and it’s likely that DCFS just has to meet certain criteria before they can close the case.

Again, not saying it didn’t happen, but the story seems like a good candidate for “missing reasons.”

If you search “cyber security expert 2024 election hacking” you’ll get links to some social media posts where experts are discussing what they think happened.

I know for a fact I read that some small counties had voting machines that we know can be hacked hooked up to Starlink, and it was hypothesized that if they did get hacked again an “if, then” code was used to fly under the radar and steal votes in a few key areas in swing states. I’ll continue looking when I get a chance.
