Woah, that’s intense, at first I thought that was some kind of eldritch creature. The house I’m in just got a new hot water tank, I’ll ask what they’re doing about maintaining it.

Start with Dogville if you really don’t like her.
Thanks for the explanation. I don’t drink hot water (I filter drinking water in the fridge) I just didn’t realize hot water was undrinkable and that there were laws against hooking it up to cold water.
If you’re being serious, the intent is: “don’t bother me while I do my job”.
(it’s dual because law forbids connecting undrinkable water to drinkable water systems)
Are you implying that hot water is undrinkable? Sorry, I don’t understand but it sounds really interesting.
BONUS
Ah, good one! But to be fair in early November a lot of us were door-to-door canvassing and/or phonebanking.

OMG I did the same thing too… but the funny/sad thing was that I started doing those “typical reddit” comments that weren’t really insightful but got lots of upvotes. Then when I came here to Lemmy I had to stop myself from making those kinds of comments.
Hey, unironically you should try one of those private social networks where it’s all just AI bots and you’re the only human. I mean, I hope you stay here too but it might help you to have a place where you can say things without human judgment but you still get some kind of feedback.
Did they give us what we wanted? Nope. The protests happen all the time, but name one instance when it actually worked.
The example I linked describes how a peaceful protest convinced the Pennsylvania Assembly to vote for American independence.
Respectfully, I think you are arguing in bad faith.
Just say “the reddit-like corner of the fediverse, such as discuss.online” to avoid their keyword bots. (edit: oops I just read “discuss.online” is now on their keyword bots)
The one I was at, the speakers were talking about the various organizations to join to help make a change. Several groups were talking one-on-one and handing out flyers to contact for “next steps.”
I personally signed up with Indivisible to demand our congressional representatives do everything they can to slow down Trump. But I also got the names of a couple other organizations if I didn’t think that was enough.
“Gee Elon, I sure am sorry for that! I’ll get it taken down right away! Those darn Snoos sometimes get a little crazy… By the way, you think next time you and Zuck and Bezos get together you could give me a call? Hello? … Hello? Awwww…” -Spez, probably
There were plenty of peaceful demonstrations during the American struggle for independence. (example)
Oh yeah great idea, I just posted it to !politics@lemmy.world Let’s see if it stays up.
btw this post we’re on was on the front page of “all” - “active” earlier today but it seems to have slipped way off.
Why would you throw out that perfectly functional christmas tree ornament…

I’m not a lawyer, but I believe in most cases you’re free to demonstrate without a permit, see here: https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/protesters-rights I believe if, for example, you exceed the area’s capacity the police are supposed to give an order to disperse and then give you time to disperse.
However it’s better to get a permit, agreed. And the police may not do what they’re “supposed” to do.
Then it accurately represents von Trier’s movie style.
