  • If Democrats can’t learn the lesson here they’re going to keep failing.

These are working class people who want their everyday cost of living needs addressed. They want change. No Trump isn’t going to help them but he says he will. “Trump will fix it!”

If Trump says mass deportations will fix their problems they’re going with that option.

Democrats need to actually do the work and fix their concerns the correct way, by taxing the shit out of or locking up billionaires for a start.

Democrats saying nothing will fundamentally change is not reaching these people, and just calling them dumb and discarding them isn’t a winning strategy.

  • Even after all this the DNC are already bowing down to the fascist position because they lost because they were “too woke”.

This is when the democrats were already running a far right platform of “we want to fund the police, not defund them”, following Trump’s border policy, “most lethal army”, “Israel must expand its borders”, “I’ll have a Republican in my cabinet”. And they weren’t “woke” at all. Kamala threw trans people in the trash saying “we’ll follow the law” when it comes to trans issues. It was the Republicans who were running hundreds of millions of dollars worth of attack ads on trans people and democrats weren’t saying shit.

The DNC have once again failed to learn and are looking for a “centrist” chair, doing exactly the same thing of shutting down leftist voices and trying to appeal to and compromise with the fascists instead of listening to people like Bernie and AOC.

You’d think after they utterly failed and managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and get an out and proud fascist elected they would finally learn that they need to address the real issues that affect all working class people.

    The ratchet effect is real.

The Republican critique of the democrats is kind of right in a way in that they are just the same rich people not doing anything about the cost of living and only using identity politics to “virtue signal”. They’re right wingers with rainbow flags. That doesn’t do much for oppressed minorities except make us the target of attacks. What would benefit queer and other oppressed minorities more is build a society in which we can afford homes to live in, food to eat, access to healthcare. But they want to make it all about pronouns because that is easy for them to look like they’re someone “on the left”, when economically they’re not on the left at all.

There’s really no hope with the DNC. We just need to organize in our own communities because the democrats certainly aren’t coming to save anyone.

  • The outcome wasn’t even decided on Palestine. And the majority of people who are against the genocide understood what was at stake, tried to push Harris left but voted for her in the end.

So you can stop trying to scapegoat anyone who is against genocide as being somehow responsible for this outcome.

If her base had spent more time calling her out for simultaneously calling Trump “hilterian” while also copying Hitler’s policies and chasing after those Republican votes and trying to please her corporate masters rather than fighting for the working class and using left wing economic policies to go after the billionaires and do something substantial about the everyday cost of living, housing, food, healthcare things would have turned out different.

She needed those working class votes - all the people who will never own a home, can’t afford to go to a doctor and don’t give two shits about Palestine one way or the other.

It sure might have given her a bump if she had made any kind of signal that she would make any kind of change on Palestine post-election. Apply American law to stop some shipments of weapons to an active genocide. Instead we got “most lethal military in the world” and Walz saying Israel must expand its borders. You have to understand that people who know Trump is much worse would still vote for her given the circumstances, but that’s not going to cause a surge of a big group of people to get out and vote.

Still it may not have been enough without going to the mat to fight for the working class.

Like really, imagine if it was your family and friends who had been killed in their beds by a year of slaughter by Biden / Harris / Netanyahu. And people are telling you “yeah but you’ve gotta vote for the people who killed your family or the other guys might start killing more people”. I don’t know about you but if all my family and friends had already been killed I might not have the energy to go out and vote for their murderers, or even have the will to live or participate in this fucked up world anymore.

You can’t just shut down any leftist voices and continually run to the right and expect to win. If the voters who have been groomed for years on right-wing content want Hitler they’ve going to choose the real deal not Hitler-lite.

If you throw your hands up and decide you’re now pro-genocide all of a sudden because you’ve scapegoated the victims of genocide, I don’t think you were ever really opposed to it, and you’re likely to accept the next genocide and the one after that.
