Maybe safe is the wrong word in my post. I mean keeping the data safe from meta in the respect that I don’t want them to have it. Their record in data privacy is not so great so I’m keen to keep my data away from Meta if I can.

I’d highly recommend python as your first if you’re just looking to get stuck in. Along with the suggestions here can also recommend a short hike. There’s also a bunch of short, fulfilling games on itch.io and the developers see more of your cash vs steam, worth considering if you’re so inclined.

I also go through phases like this, particularly in the winter. You could be suffering from depression or if this is a more recent thing as the days get shorter maybe its SAD. Get some sunshine and a SAD lamp and see if that helps. If not, worth talking to a professional like others have suggested. Godspeed fellow gamer!

You’re right! I missed it somehow

I also tried Joplin and while it’s great while using it, there’s no background sync and never will be. That’s a huge pain when you’re mobile and need to get at your notes but have little or no signal.

I’ve been getting on well with notesnook, the self hosting is in beta right now but its just a docker container. Docs are coming for self hosting in the near future.

The criteria for me when I was looking for a notes app were:

• self hosted
• e2e encrypted
• supports images and other rich media as well as text
• can use markdown for text formatting
• supports mobile as well as some desktop interface
• can make lists with checkable boxes
• background sync

Notesnook hits all of these. I wish it had a dedicated desktop app but that’s something I can just use a browser window for.

He needs to calm down

Rogue for the rogue mechanic. Progressing in a game as far as you can until you die, then using some form of enhancement mechanic be harder faster better or stronger to go again.

It’s the same game and no major changes to the story, but bosses have some legendary actions, it’s more difficult to find things, long rests cost double, no save scumming, everything is more expensive etc. What i’ve found is accidentally failing a roll has caused some real problems for me down the line, the thing that can really screw you over is a bad roll rather than a tricky combat.

Still on my honor mode run of Baldurs gate 3, still in Act I. Doing this will 100% the achievements… So I need to!
