    Median monthly income in China according to most sources I can find is just 1300-1400 USD. Still, 82 USD for that income is not expensive, and that’s for higher end private medical care outside the main healthcare system.

    It’d be like an American paying for medical care with a weeks groceries.



  • Three of the accomplishments in that selection were struck down before going into effect, the antitrust doj actions are nice and all, but don’t actually fix anything or defend the working class – mainly because the effect the admin desired, price reduction and wage increases, didn’t happen. Inflation corrected wages are lower now than in 2020, and food prices never stabilized.

    Forklift operators yes, construction workers also yes depending on the region. In many areas of the US the majority of construction workers are undocumented workers and thus kept at or below minimum wage. Forklift operators really don’t make a lot of money. Like more than general warehouse labor but even in decent states that tends to be pretty low on the spectrum.
