We’ve got four more years of …
I see this all over Lemmy. Do people still not realize what has happened? The next 4 years is just the beginning of what has been unleashed for the US for at least a generation or more.

Not 10 million. As of today (all votes still not counted) trump leads the popular vote by 2,557,324. That’s 49.9% to 48.3%. Current vote count: https://www.reuters.com/graphics/USA-ELECTION/RESULTS/zjpqnemxwvx/president/
Not that the popular vote matters in who wins, but it’s nice to know he didn’t get a true majority of all votes cast. 1.8% of votes were 3rd party, more than the difference between trump and Harris. If the amount of those votes that were “to teach the Dems a lesson” were added to the ones where POTUS was left blank to “teach the Dems a lesson”, well … anyway.
The correct way to do this is by making them into meatballs and make a meatball sub.
They came out all right at the end.
He authorized Ukraine to use US missiles to strike inside Russia. Waited too long, but at least he did it. UK has followed suit. So remember, just because the media likes to show the things like going to the rainforest because they have video of it, doesn’t mean he’s not still doing stuff.
I’ve read that they’ve been doing a lot since well before the election to protect or shore up what things they can to make it harder for Trump to do some of his dictator stuff. Some things they’ve worked on since he first took office. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot that Biden can do on his own that Trump can’t just turn around and undo. But they’re trying to make it as difficult for him as they can bureaucratically.
As far as rallying a resistance, nope, he’s apparently not willing or able to do anything like that. He greeted Trump like everything was normal, which I found pretty irritating. It’s up to the people. I hope we can find someone charismatic to lead a movement. Charisma seems to be the most important or maybe even the only thing that matters these days.
Garland was the biggest mistake Biden made.
Who said they had a “burning hatred” of women? Most of the men in the focus groups who said that they wouldn’t vote for a woman wasn’t because they hate women but said things like, women were “too emotional”, would not be able to handle dealing with adversarial foreign leaders, or that it’s “just not appropriate” for a woman to hold the office of POTUS. Oh, and even some women also said that.
“A lot of Latinos, those who can vote, did so because they think he [Trump] can improve the economy. That would be very good for us too,” said Carlos, an undocumented Mexican who lives in New York City.
Oh Carlos, mi dulce niño del verano …
Don, Jr.: My dad put these fries in the box himself! hurr durr
There was some real optimism when I got to vote for Obama as an 18 year old. Would’ve never seen all this coming…
Unfortunately, all this is pretty much a backlash to that event.
Sometimes we all just have to find out, if there’s to be any chance of getting them to stop fucking around. 😐
nope, it’s the usual European smug superiority complex I see all over Lemmy, as if they don’t have the same problems there (not to mention have had in the past). They can enjoy gloating until the same thing happens in their country, which won’t be long.
You deserve what’s coming.
You’re talking to the people who tried to stop him, so fuck off.
“The Onion is proud to acquire Infowars, and we look forward to continuing its storied tradition of scaring the site’s users with lies until they fork over their cold, hard cash,” said The Onion CEO Ben Collins. “Or Bitcoin. We will also accept Bitcoin.”
This is great!
Thune (just chosen as the new Senate majority leader) has already agreed to recess the Senate so that Trump could appoint whoever he wants without going through the confirmation process by using the recess appointment process. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recess_appointment
Wow, already in the first week. Expect to hear this joke periodically over the course of his term, each time getting slightly more seriously stated. By the third year, everyone will have heard it so much it’ll be accepted as a perfectly reasonable idea. And the media will help that along in how they report on it. This is the tried and true playbook and it will work, not only for this plan but for their other plans.
Take for example the planned mass deportations. They’ll start out with finding some people who have committed crimes (or they claim have), deport them and no one will object to that, it’s already how it’s done. As they move on to those whose crimes are not very consequential, like traffic tickets or whatever, if libs say anything against it, they’ll pounce on it and amplify stories how the libs are overreacting and want criminals to be left free and have open borders. Harping on any criticism in cases that are technically justified is key to getting the public used to pooh-poohing any dissent as they start escalating and going after the law-abiding (other than being here illegally ofc) immigrants, families with mixed status members, DACA/Dreamers, parents of children born here and thus citizens and deporting the children with them, etc.
When they talk about a “trifecta” in this context it means the presidency, the Senate and the House. That applies to both the national and State governments.
It’s for the best at this point, they own everything and everything that happens is on them and no one but them. trump can’t say, “oh the House is why I haven’t been able to do this or that thing I said I would do.”
Oh I see, that makes sense! Thanks
