  • Hope is two things: wanting a certain outcome and believing it’s possible. Hope can be delusional if its object is impossible, but in no way are all objects of hope universally out of reach. As for hope being brought by despair… well this is plain silly as the definition of despair is literally hopelessness. In that sense I’d argue that hope is actually brought by perceived uncertainty, which sounds pretty boring although it has the merit of being reasonable.

  • I didn’t realize the new Steam family sharing was so detrimental to close ones away from each other. Their Guide & FAQ is clear with their intentions:

While we know that families come in many shapes and sizes, Steam Families is intended for a household of up to 6 close family members.

To that end, we expect the requirements for participating in a Steam Family to change over time as we monitor its usage and add requirements to keep usage in line with this intent.

Last line is pretty brutal. Apparently even family members living in the same country & different household might be in for a surprise eventually. That’s really saddening because at first glance this overhaul sounded amazing considering a single game was locked by play instead of the whole library.

  • I’m with you for cringe, but simping… eh idk. I’ve been under the impression the term encompasses unhealthy one way obsessions which are often self destructive. Of course some dumbass will cry simp at any lambda fan of fine things, but that’s just abusing the word no?

  • I have the utmost respect for ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley, I’m happy it’s a success and I’ve played it plenty. I have to say though, there’s something in the game that leads some of us straight into a minmaxing management race-against-the-clock frenzy. I think I could play it casually, but I’d need an unwavering discipline… and that’s the problem.
