Also they probably figured an angry mob would drag the person into the streets and execute them for doing such. The founding fathers didn’t create the secret service, they came about 90 years later or so.
Americans seem to have this image of the founding fathers as enlightened beings who came up with a perfect system made to keep working centuries in the future.
They just made what they thought best at the time. They couldn’t possibly have predicted what the US and the rest of the world would be like in a hundred years. Times change, and rules must change with them
