Piracy is a hassle, the convenience of streaming made the cost worthwhile. They’ve forgotten this. Once the cost outweighs the convenience, the hassle won’t seem like such a hassle anymore.

Kodi, Seren add-on and a debrid provider like Premiumize gets me better service than any streaming provider. Multiple source streams on any show in the last couple decades and every movie way earlier than is available from any source I’ve ever seen. If its not available as a cached stream, I can queue a torrent file at their end and stack them up until I’m ready to watch it, but I’ve rarely had to do that.

That just saved me a lengthy troubleshoot with the wife while I’m on the road, she was texting me to say Kodi wasn’t giving her sources when your message showed up on my Lemmy client.

            Thank you, good timing.

I can say issues only happen briefly if ever. Am 5 years in.

Prob resolved ~50 mins of me having posted this of course I didn’t update with uptime update. 😅

I was thinking it was the Trakt.TV free tier changes myself at first.

All I know is that Lexus Texas (that is what TX means to me) sounds like the name of a porn star. Is that the message Lexus wanted me to take away from their advertising and branding?

Is this fucking real? Get fucked, mainstream media, if this is the case. Plenty of books and old games to keep me occupied until Alzheimers hits, and then occupied again afterwards

      This isn’t mainstream media.
      This is capitalism.

This is a company making a product, selling it for a given price, then making additional money from embedded ads.
Whether that ad revenue is additional profit, or to offset the actual cost of the item - because the sold it at a loss to beat their competitors - doesn’t really matter.
This is the consumer paying for something, and not getting a full and complete product

No, mainstream media is part of capitalism.
Specifically shitty mainstream media (I’m sure there are some mainstream media providers that aren’t shitty).

          This is a shitty product.
This is a shitty product that is part of capitalism.
This is a shitty product that is part of capitalism which happens to show mainstream media.

          But this isn’t mainstream media.

Mainstream media would want in on the ad revenue. Mainstream media would facilitate & encourage this.

This is just a shitty product from a shitty company capitalising on shitty practices.

          Edit:
I guess “part of the same bullshit” is correct.
But it’s placing the blame on the wrong thing

Yeah, I had to really masticate on my phrasing for a while and never really settled on a statement that reflected properly my true meaning. Glad you could see where I was coming from

I genuinely don’t understand why people still use Hulu when you can watch the same shit in better bitrate with no ads and no subscription

We’re not even talking about a Plex server or anything just freakin stream it off the 1000 trusted sources

The liberal mind is full of mysteries
